Nokia has officially released a firmware update for the Nokia 5230 S60V5 based smartphone which now has a firmware version of V40.0.3. It has been long since any major update was released for the said handset which previously had a V21.004 phone software version available. It is a matter of fact that the Nokia 5230 was one of the most popular and affordable handset belonging to the Symbian 5th edition operating system and was often compared as similar to the best selling Nokia 5800XM which was however priced higher than the former and had also some extended features and capabilities.
The new firmware update which has a standard file size of 9814KB in general is available both Over The Air (OTA) as well as through the Nokia Software Updater (NSU). If you want to avail this download, you may either launch the SW Update app built-in to your phone or else open the Device Updates wizard by dialing *#0000# and then taping on Option-->Check for Updates. This will then connect to the Update server and check for any available download files which will then be accordingly listed once the same is detected. It may however, take some time in various regions to appear via OTA and may not be accessible to one an all.
