Sony Ericsson is a popular mobile phone brand and one of its most widely used category of smartphones are that of the Walkman series which is dedicated for all the music enthusiasts. Now the good news for all the fans of the said music series phones from Sony Ericsson is that they have announced a new android phone within that same category and will be known as W8 Walkman. This music phone would be based on the Eclair (v2.1) edition of the android operating system and would come along with loads of other features and some good and standard technical configurations.


The W8 Walkman phone would be featuring a 3-inch capacitive HVGA display screen which would be supporting about 320 x 480 pixels of resolution and can effectively display around 16,777,216 colors. It is powered by a 600Mhz processor and 128MB RAM that would be also using the customized interface of Timescape UI over the Android platform. It also sports a camera of 3.2 Megapixels that includes digital zooming and geo tagging facilities. Being one of the Walkman series handset, it is obvious to have great support for music and thereby also facilitates easy access to these entertainment services through the use of single click customizable corners that is built into it.


Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman android phone will be having three different shades of colors as seen above and they are red, orange and blue but may also be available in some other colors too such as Azure. It provides support for about 16GB of expandable memory using microSD and an internal phone memory capacity of 128MB. It is a 3G capable handset with quadband operating frequency that runs on 850/900/1800/1900 in GSM or EDGE and 900/2100 in case of UMTS/HSPA whereas 850/1900/2100 for UMTS/HSPA. Since it is based on the Android mobile operating system, hence there will be the freedom to use more than thousands of apps that can be found from the Android market and accordingly allows you to personalize it according as per your preference and interest.

The android phone measures around 99.0 x 54.0 x 15.0 mm in dimension and 104 gram in weight. There are many other standard technical specs of this phone which includes WiFi, GPS, Virtual QWERTY keypad and lots more. The battery life is considerable and can last for around 23 hours of active music playback using 1200 mAH Battery and can also deliver 4hr 45 mins talktime and 476 hours of standby time. Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman mobile phone is not launched till now and is expected to be rolled out towards Q2 2011 and will be available in many countries including India, Hong Kong, Singapore etc. The price of the said android phone is not officially announced as of now but the same may not be a costly one considering the various technical specs which it has to offer.
