Nokia Beta Labs today announced another update to the popular Swype applications which is available for Symbian S60 5th edition Nokia devices thereby fixing many bugs and some other enhancement for better performance. For all those who are still unaware of this great mobile utility, let me tell you that Swype is a custom on-screen keyboard that is intended for Symbian s60v5 based devices which enables the users to input text much faster through a single continuous motion of a finger or the stylus. It is a great alternative for the traditional default on-screen keypad that comes preloaded with the Nokia device. However, the Swype application in itself is developed by Swype Inc. in close collaboration with Nokia and are additionally also supported on a wide range of devices like tablets, game consoles and many other such devices.



Compatibility and system requirements for Swype application


The Swype on-screen keypad for s60v5 is compatible with following six Nokia mobiles as per the officially recommended compatibility chart which are as follows:-
  • Nokia N97
  • Nokia N97mini
  • Nokia 5230
  • Nokia 5800
  • Nokia X6
  • Nokia C6-00

Changes made in the new Swype application


The changes that were made in this new update announced for Swype application supported in S60 5th Edition are the following:-
  • Various bugs has been fixed which includes the most annoying backspace crash that was reported by many Swype users. These bugs are now fixed in the latest release available.
  • There are some improvements being made on the performance of the Swype application. Some of these improvement includes the auto-capitalization feature along with auto-spacing and improvements in the general application speed.
  • In the previous Beta version, it was noticed that Swype keyboard was reverted to the default keyboard when it was rotated. This bug has been fixed and we can use the Swype keyboard now even if it is rotated.
  • The Spanish version of the keyboard now displays the proper national character.
  • It includes a new dialog prompt for language selection.
  • The size of the application is reduced to 1.5mbs
