Mozilla Firefox 4 was launched few days back and has since then recorded about some millions of downloads till date which clearly highlights the popularity that it shares among the internet users. Even though Chrome exists in the race of being the most popular web browser along with newly released Internet Explorer 9, Firefox still remains a reliable tool to browse the web for many users. If you are a Linux user and using Ubuntu for instance, then may be Firefox remains the only web browser which has been used widely by folks across the globe.

Now as Mozilla Firefox 4 for Ubuntu is also available, you may have perhaps noticed that the automatic update of the browser may not work as it sometimes takes a hell lot of time to get updated even when it has been officially released. But for those guys who had just received their Ubuntu linux distro and are not familiar with using this open source operating system, this guide might be of some help and assist them to successfully install Firefox in their computer.

There may be or infact there are many possible ways to accomplish this purpose and we are not going to deal with all the available options as it might be rather confusing for the novice users. So, among all available ways the method which is commonly used and much more flexible is that of using the command line install method through the terminal window. You won't need expert hands for this approach as you have to enter only few lines of commands to perform the upgrade. You can simply copy and paste or type the following commands in the terminal window to accomplish the task:-

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Using those three lines of commands would do the job for you and the Firefox version would be upgraded to version 4 from the previous v3.6. Alternatively, you may consider using the Bzipped Package available from the official Mozilla page or make use of the 'Ubuntu Software Center' which serves the same purpose but in a slightly different approach. However, waiting for some more days to have it listed in the Software Center is another alternative but is ofcourse not worth the wait as the same can be easily done instantly with no wait-period involved.
