Bharti Airtel has recently launched some new tariff plans for their 3G services in Delhi and NCR region in India. Since 3G service is relatively new in India and the subscriber base is still very less in number, all the network providers are definitely eying upon attracting as many people to opt for the 3G network and thus the availability of Mobile Number Portability in India has further made the competition stiff in this regard.

There are actually four types of plans which are made available by Airtel and are thereby intended to offer more flexibility for the users to chose the best plans depending on their requirements and usage behavior. Out of these, the three different pricing models are classified as Sachet Plans, Standard Plans and FlexiShield Plan while the fourth one is a normal Pay As You Go plan named as PAYG VBC. The detailed rates offered in each of these three categories can be found in the list given below.

There is also an unlimited tariff available for all the power users to opt for but as usual with any other network, Airtel too has imposed the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) which restricts the data usage to 14GB. The cost of subscribing to the unlimited plan is Rs.2000 for 14GB after which the plans will automatically be converted to GPRS like 20Kbps speed but will remain free for such usage and no additional cost will be charged for data usage at that speed.

How to activate Airtel 3G in Delhi/NCR

One can easily switch over to the Airtel 3G network service by forwarding a SMS with the text string '3G' without quotes to the toll free number 121. Additionally, you can also use the IVR option available through the number 12134 via which you can activate your preferred 3G plans. However, the basic requirements of having a 3G capable mobile handset in mandatory and hence one would need to upgrade his mobile phone too if it does not currently support 3G networks.

To conclude here, Airtel has made a good attempt to bring-in more and more subscribers and thereby multiply their user base in New Delhi, Faridabad, Noida and Gurgaon where the said service is available to be used. There are also some reports that Airtel would be launching their 3G services in all other telecom circles by the month of March 2011 as has been quoted by Mr Atul Bindal who is the president of the Bharti Airtel Mobile Service.
